Lyon December 2017
Sunday and Monday
We arrived in Lyon on Sunday. We had dinner all together (Spanish, Slovak and French people).
It was the first time we met and it was really interesting but nobody was brave enough to taste the “quenelle” (a local speciality: a sort of dumpling)...
On Monday morning we came to school where the French students showed us around and the Spanish students presented their country and the city of Madrid.
In the afternoon we went to the Christmas market in the city centre. We saw the city in the evening, we didn’t buy anything but we enjoyed it. And then we came back to school for dinner. After that we returned to our hotel, tired but happy.
Tuesday
On Tuesday morning, we really experienced a team spirit, we learned how to create surveys. Then, we started working in groups we had previously made. Each group had a job, which was to create interviews for teachers and for students, and questionnaires for teachers and students as well.
Since we had to go to Bocuse’s burger restaurant, we didn’t finish our work. After lunch, we had some free time that we spent in the Confluence shopping centre.
Then we attended a presentation by Miss Reynaud, a history and geography teacher. It was about the district of Confluence, its ecological aspect and the contribution of the European Union to its construction and development.
Later, we went to the Confluence Museum to see the exhibition about the creation of movies and cinema by the Lumière brothers. It was very interesting, interactive and enriching. In the evening the Slovak and Spanish people went to the city centre (Bellecour Square), where they had the most amazing experience of the day. They went on the Ferris wheel and from there they saw the whole city of Lyon, all the lights were on and were shining.

Wednesday
On Wednesday, we finished the creation of the interviews and questionnaires we had started the day before. We had lunch at school and we went to visit Le Vieux Lyon (the old quarter of Lyon). We saw the Fourvière cathedral, the Roman Theatres, some “Traboules” (a type of passageway typical of Lyon), and a beautiful street with traditional shops (Rue St Jean). We had some free time in St-Jean to see the shops and coffee shops. Then we went back to school for dinner, which was a traditional (and delicious!) dish called raclette. After dinner, we sang all together and we had an amazing time with our friends.
Thursday
On Thursday, we began the day by going to the Hôtel de Région (the Regional Government Office), to listen to a presentation by Aurélien Mascaut, about how the Hotel de Région and the Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes work.
Then, we had lunch and after, we got ready for the interviews of the pupils and teachers. The interviews took all afternoon. We saw a lot of volunteers (students and teachers), so we would like to thank them for helping us in our project.
In the evening, we went to a restaurant and we all ate a crêpe. After dinner, all the Slovaks and some French students were too tired, so they went to the hotel and their houses. The Spanish and the other French people went to the Festival of Lights without them. It was amazing, with all the lights and animations!!
We had to say goodbye to the Spanish pupils because they had to take their plane early the next morning. It was a very good day!!.
Friday
On Friday the Slovak and the French students worked together in groups, to write the articles about the week for the blog. We wrote the articles in three language: French, English and Slovak.
